What are casters?

A caster is a mobile part installed at the bottom of equipment, machines or furniture. It consists of a wheel, a bracket, a bearing and a screw nut to improve the mobility and flexibility of an object. According to the differences in function and structure, casters are mainly divided into the following types:

1.Type ‌

Swivel caster (universal wheel): It can rotate 360 degrees horizontally to achieve flexible movement in multiple directions. It is common in scenes that require frequent turning, such as trolley casters and office chairs.

Fixed caster (fixed caster): It can only roll vertically along a straight line and cannot turn. It is suitable for scenes with high requirements for linear stability, such as trolley front Wheels and heavy equipment.

Brake caster: Add a brake device on the basis of the universal wheel to fix the position of the equipment.

Shock-absorbing caster: Reduce bumps through special structures (such as springs) and is suitable for uneven ground.

2.Materials and Performance

Common materials: nylon, polyurethane (PU), super artificial rubber (Performa Rubber), polyolefin, iron core polyurethane, aluminum core polyurethane, cast nylon, modified nylon, cast iron, cast steel, etc. Different materials are suitable for different load-bearing and wear-resistant requirements.

Carrying capacity: light (such as furniture casters) bear 3-50kg. Heavy (such as industrial equipment) single wheel can bear more than 1000kg.

Special type: AGV robot casters can achieve lateral movement and in-situ rotation, used for robots and AGV carts.

3.Typical application scenarios

Industry/logistics: forklifts, shelves, production line equipment handling (high load-bearing and durability are required).

Special equipment: medical equipment, aerospace instruments (high precision and stability are required).

Commercial cabinets/chassis: network server cabinets, medical equipment workbenches (long service life, light rotation, and super impact resistance are required).
